Riverside ECHG - Older Persons Services

An example of our Sheltered Accommodation in the Midlands

Older people in Riverside ECHG properties are leading active and independent lives!

Riverside ECHG is one of the country’s largest providers of services to older people. We run sheltered housing schemes for single people and couples all across the UK.

We offer flexible solutions for older people. We offer sheltered housing with and without a resident scheme manager, and floating support which enables people to stay in their own homes. In some parts of the country we offer a service called Extra Care which allows older people to live independently in their own private apartment with the benefit of 24 hour care and support as and when it's needed.

We are also accredited by the prestigeous Centre for Sheltered Housing Studies (CSHS) - please see the story in our news section for more information.

Older people enjoying independent living

We have currently more than 6000 satisfied tenants.

Our selection of housing is specifically designed for older people, providing a range of self-contained flats, with communal facilities.

We aim to offer properties with high specifications for ease of mobility, with features such as walk in showers and adjustable height work tops for wheelchair access.

All our scheme managers are highly trained in dealing with the needs of elderly tenants and in helping them reach their full potential. Scheme Managers have a key role to play in finding occupational therapists, GPs or hairdressers for you.

We support our tenants to lead independent lives, coupled with a sense of community and companionship whilst knowing that help is close at hand if they need it.

If getting involved is your thing, there are lots of opportunities to do this at our schemes. The schemes hold regular and diverse activities appropriate to all cultures such as bingo, backgammon and even armchair aerobics!

Whatever your needs you can be sure that Riverside ECHG has something to offer you. Our housing is flexible to the level of support you need.

Sheltered housing in your area . . .

Across the Midlands, our sheltered housing schemes are an integral part of local communities. For instance, our Martha Wallis scheme in Kettering has a community library. In Birmingham, we invested £120,000 in our Ash Grove Extra-Care scheme to develop a new community restaurant and social activities.

In Liverpool we have pioneered access by BME communities to sheltered housing at our Princes Gate House scheme by facilitating access to religious and language support that encourages community integration.

In the North our regular Tenants’ Days have encouraged residents from all tenures to get involved and this has led to the provision of IT classes in sheltered schemes and computers provided as standard in supported projects.
