Supported housing empowers people who have faced homelessness and who may have a range of issues that they need support with. By meeting their immediate needs – for a safe and supportive environment – we give them an opportunity to take some control of their lives.
Double winners at the 2008 UK Housing Awards and the 2005 Community Care Award, ECHG’s supported housing projects work with the most excluded people in society. We offer a range of services and specialist staff to help residents make informed choices about their lives. Our approach brings skills – and smiles – to people in need.
We work with government offices, local authorities and other professionals to develop specialist facilities for groups as diverse as ex-service personnel, young people with special needs, those with mental health and/or drug and alcohol misuse problems, ex-offenders, homeless people needing to learn practical life skills, single teenage parents and those fleeing domestic violence.
Often, the people we work with have reached crisis point, when professional and timely help can change, or even save, lives. Every resident in our supported housing schemes is being helped through a personal development programme. And each has a keyworker to assist in working toward individual goals for the future and co-ordinate local support services.
